We have just finished reading few different fictional stories. These stories include Freak the Mighty, and Al Capone Does My Shirts. We are now going to transition back to nonfiction. Our nonfiction reading will include magazines, articles, and materials from other disciplines. Your child should be reading 30 minutes each night to prepare for the independent reading in middle school.
We also have weekly vocabulary that we focus on. Your child can study these words at home in order to prepare for a quiz every 5-8 days. We write stories using the words, study the words aloud, and use the words while speaking. These activities can all be extensions at home.
